Much gratitude to the mini-sized teachers in my life

Each and every day
The bits and pieces you say
Even how you play
Teach this Mum insights of gold
Lessons my heart tightly holds

So very grateful
Presence divinely fateful
A gift to cherish
My love never to perish
I thank you for being you

Thanks to Trista Signe Ainsworth and her joy-filled publication Thank You Notes.

This piece prompted by her first prompt — A Thank You Note to a Teacher

I couldn’t go past my two biggest teachers after life itself — my daughters, Billie and Matilda.

Their presence has been completely and utterly life-changing — the…

My hands remembered best

Been a while since I felt the pull to create
With pencil, pen, words or even paint

A lump of wood
Creator understood

Moments to play
Art with something to say

To me, and maybe you

Hands with something to do

Left the mind behind
Blissfully assigned

A moment of inspired time
Captured in a simple rhyme

A weekend with an unexpected lockdown.

Ample time to be. Sketching while the girls painted, my eyes spied my old wood-burning tool mixed in with a box of paints.

Hadn’t used it for almost 20 years….

Found a piece of scrap wood —…

The fight for allergy-free foods

This is the face
Of what so-called food can do

A mild reaction
Breath still in action

Allergens the trigger
No warning, no sticker

Producers fucking with food
Untold processes skewed

Numbers with no names
GMO games

What is our food eating?

Feed grown in soils or sands
Laced with chemical strands

Grass or glyphosate
Is it too late?

Rage rises in me

Driving me to ask more
Who is this food safe for?

Resistance still there

Do I run and hide
Or chase the rollercoaster ride

Grow our own
Together or alone

What will become For the food in…

Introducing a new publication

Over the past year, as I start to fine-tune my focus to the word “allergy.” It feels like anyone I speak to has some form of connection to allergies.

In the last couple of months, the message has become so loud I can no longer ignore it.

Standing in a long line, I got talking to a stranger about it for over an hour. We didn’t realise we were at the start of the line; we were so engrossed in our conversation.

Conversations at parties (yep, I feel a bit guilty saying this, BUT.. in Western Australia, it’s been possible…

The time is NOW to untangle the corporate pull on our health

Profit over people
Health becomes feeble

Handing over our care
Leads to more despair

Who do we believe
To find pain relief

Our bodies screaming for health
The system geared for wealth

Crops doused in chemical
Responses almost mechanical

We need to, to feed the masses
No need for concern with the gasses

A quick jab or pills
Will ail all life’s ills

A bandaid fix
Vs nutrients added to the mix

Keep us moving on our way
No regards to the future price we pay

The race of rats
Needs some new cats

Stop the madness
Repaint the canvas

Launching a website of collaborative advice

Words of advice
The elixir of life
Or directions to strife

Seeds of insight
To tackle the fight

Given freely
to see clearly
Intention to help
Ease the pain felt

Stories we share
In moments we care
Spoken with truth
With insights for use

No one size fits all
Some support, some stall
What is right for one
Will make another run

Ears deaf to awaken
Or perception mistaken
Alchemy of joy
Or scientific ploy

Reject or take
Ours to own
As we claim stake
Into our unknown

Advice arrives at our doorstep welcomed or not.

Times we ask for…

Poetic Reflection

Sometimes I life
Sometimes I write

Writers write
Dreamers dream
Teachers teach
Screamers scream

Labels disappear
Silenced with bottles of beer
Daily habits fade away
Distracted by summer play
Dreams and visions
Guide to stride

A jack or master
A toe or leg
Balancing act or future regret
Clarity not there… yet

Doubt tests desire*
Thoughts on fire
Embrace the mess
Singe the stress

The word

No right or wrong
Always belong
— to the now

Walk the talk or
Talk the walk

Open heart and open mind
Follow the wonder and find

Learning to let…

Mohit Gupta is the editor in chief of Roadfolk.

He reached out to me via LinkedIn before he created a beautiful space for inspiring intentional living.

When he presented the mag’s online presence only a couple of months later, I was intrigued. Humbled to be then asked to contribute as a guest writer in November.

Rasheed Hooda held my hand, guiding me with a mantra he had shared at the time;

How does it get any better than this?
What else is possible?”

Here is a link to my first attempt to amplify my voice outside the walls of Medium.

A vulnerable place

I read this week’s prompts on the screen
Full-blown resistance intervened

What emotions do you find it hardest to accept within yourself?”

Wanted to leave it sitting on the shelf
The tell-tale sign I needed to address
Time to own up to myself and confess
Emotions that challenge my soul to express

Anger, pride and desire

Those I least admire
In me
Expected me

I try

To understand what they are telling me The insights begging to be set free I still don’t know what they want me to know I see it in my partner I see it…
