Ah - I see your point now and connection with the song.
In my mind, at the time I responded, I was focused on the blue-collar man...and the riffs of the guitars and beat of the drums hahaha.
To me blue or white collar - both are still "cuffed" and bound by their collared chains to the system.
But then the line "If it takes all that to be just what I am" makes more sense now... attached to the system, but working to break free while making a difference to make a difference.
I never consciously linked blue-collar to essential workers, which is crazy to me now.. Boj is a mechanic, welder and builder... and gardener and cook and ...all those things and more - what attracted me to him in the first place.
