Campfire
#Day 13 — Elizabeth Gilmore’s Things I Like to Draw
Crackle warmth and glow
Campfire convos can’t be beat
But remember to
Keep a close eye on that heat
Bushfires are a wild beast
I love watching the embers of a fire glow.
Chats by a campfire are like no other. Something special in a ritual from ages gone by.
Like with everything, campfires come with a cautionary but….
Knowing the untamed nature of bushfires we are very cautious when we light a campfire.
Never in Summer.
Our bush land is primed for fire. Australian natives are resilient to fire… the nutrients left after a fire helps to germinate their seeds. They drop their leaves (which contain oils) and bark to welcome the fire closer.
Indigenous voices are finally being heard as we look to them for guidance on how to work with fire to ensure safer management.
