I haven’t read the book or seen the movie, but by reading your words and experience I am now very motivated to have a read.

I feel like looking back on the meanings I applied to things as a kid through the mind of the 40-year-old I am now, it helps me bring a new understanding and meaning. Parts of who I am, now make more sense. And I have a choice to stay that person linked to the old meaning or release it.

In a round-a-about way, I’m trying to say I’m happy you took your teacher’s advice and read the book. I’m happy by getting a different perspective you could make the transition from the disturbed feelings the movie gave you as a 13-year-old and lead you to the “knowing” of how important sharing your stories is.

I look forward to reading more of your work.

Thanks for being you.
