# Day 18 – Elizabeth Gilmore’s Things I Like to Draw
Having kids around
Is a reminder to live
In each “now” moment
Drawing is something I loved doing as a kid.
It came with a big whack of “I am not good enough” as I got older.
I embodied the “problem” in Pablo’s quote — hook, line and sinker!!
Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once they grow up — Pablo Picasso
I sat next to a mate in high school art class. She draws solely from her imagination. The things she can get her pencil to do are mesmerising. Her abilities never fail to floor me.
“I could never do that” is what I’d told myself back then.
So I stopped trying.
I even stopped drawing with any regularity.
If I can’t draw from my imagination — I can never be a real “artist”. Better start looking into doing something else with my life — mmm — how easily those thoughts creep in!
