Weirdly enough (or not!) I was reminded of this over the weekend at my niece’s 21st. I was confronted with the masks my parents wanted me to wear.

Since I no longer am wearing them, validation was with held. At first this gave me a lump in my throat and a few tears, but on arriving home I knew I was ok without their validation. I still love them but I will no longer wear the masks they expect me to.
